The Wild Rise of Unsung Hero’s

          In an era where heavy music struggles to be unique at times, no band has risen above this issue better than 156/Silence. Initially emerging from Pittsburgh’s underground metalcore scene, they refuse to be pigeonholed by genre’s and are determined to make a name for themselves that is both unique and lasting. The band has spent the better part of a decade transforming from a local band into an unstoppable international act that now tours all over the world. They are a modern force to be reckoned with who built their reputation on raw emotional honesty rather than chasing current trends in the scene.

          Rather than playing it safe and leaning heavily on metalcore clichés. The band chose experimentation instead of a breakdown saturated riff fest that made them stand out from the crowd. Lead vocalist Jack Murray has this raw grit to his delivery that can be described as a rap scream. Having seen them live, I can say that the stage presence and overall live performance put the recorded albums to shame. By no means are they bad it’s the transition to the live stage that give each song a new life. Having recently signed to Pure Noise Records after releasing several albums on Sharptone Records it is clear that they have found their footing and are showing no signs of compromising or slowing down as a unit.

          Through repeated listens of their discography there are multiple layers of musicianship and vocal prowess that lay beneath the aggression. Jack Murray’s vocals are a pure expression of what appears to be his raw emotions in the moment and do not seem calibrated or rehearsed. This is what makes their live performance so special and cathartic for fans of the band. 156/Silence continues to double down on the unpredictability in their songwriting and musicianship which continues to positively impact their rise to fame.

In an industry that is consistently evolving and digital attention spans that are growing shorter. The band refuses to be a one trick pony and continues to expand their fanbase with each album. The band has found success not because they followed the modern heavy music blueprint but because they created one of their own that has allowed them to explore new sounds and consistently refine their craft. With a new album titled “From a Distance” dropping September 4^th 2026 this looks like only the beginning for the guys and I am all here for their continued growth and evolution.
