Decades Album Review

Born in 2006 it is clear out of the gates that this new record decades sees motionless in white firing on all cylinders and celebrates everything that truly made them special since their inception. Having been a fan since When Love Met Destruction I have the rare gift of hindsight and can look back on their career with fondness. Primary Writer and Vocalist Chris Motionless along with the rest of the band appear to have learned from past mistakes, refined their craft and focused on highlighting their strengths on this new record.

Long time collaborator Drew Fulk is behind the board for this one and when it comes to production, he succeeded in giving the album a refined but polished sound. Chris powers through every chorus with the vigor and intensity of someone who truly wants his vision for decades to be realized. This album, as its name suggests, is a bold celebration of everything that has made Motionless in White special throughout their career. It is clear that lead vocalist Chris Motionless is heavily influenced by Maralyn Manson over his career. It needs to be said that when he writes from his heart and soul it has a uniqueness that is unparalleled by anyone in the genre. He appears to be more confident in his writing ability now than ever before and is not using the work of Manson as crutch but building off his influences and making every note uniquely his own.

Decades has everything long-time fans have come to expect from the band and I truly believe that this record will turn more than a few heads with its polished production, blending of genre’s and brutality. The classic Chris Motionless BLEH scream is present during quite a few moments here. Through every line and note that exists here during its 14 tracks there exists a legacy of a band that have honed their craft and defended their reputation as a force to be reconned with in their genre. It truly has been a wild rise for the band and I am here for whatever the future holds for Motionless in White
