No Pressure – Flying with Style

          No Pressure are back with their highly anticipated sophomore record NP Style. This record does exactly that, soars with style through the skies of pop punk bliss. With Parker Cannon at the helm like he sings in the closer inside “I set the example because I want you to follow” Parker and the boys are carving a bath for themselves in a scene that at times can be over saturated with cookie cutter acts. Being a supergroup can sometimes be somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to results, but when we look at no pressures brief six-year existence we see a band that consistently delivers.

          In this brief 21-minute package we get a raw, polished, uncompromising look into the souls of 5 men who are determined to leave their mark on a scene that has a legacy to uphold. While the previous self-titled LP found a band that was just finding their footing it is clear that NP Style has much more to say. Instead of relying on the legacy of bands like Blink 182 where they appear to draw influence, no pressure is determined to create their own. This record does everything but play it safe with blistering riffs and choruses that just make you want to belt every line.

          Though this band is just a side project for Parker and the rest of its members, the boys have shown us they have no intention of sitting on sidelines. With songs like Our Bond, Late Apology and the closer Inside we find No Pressure in top form doing what they do best, deliver raw, polished pop punk that is uncompromising in all of its brilliance. Don’t underestimate what exists within these brief 21 minutes of music.

          What I appreciate most about this record is how it does not reinvent its formula but instead simply sharpens every edge that makes the band stand out from the pack. In an era where many bands chase Spotify streaming numbers or viral moments No Pressure has executed a record that exemplifies their conviction and passion for songs that just have a lot to say in a large package that at first glance may seem small. When we look closer at the overall product this record truly delivers a body of work that long-time fans and newcomers will be spinning on repeat for years to come.
