Parker Cannon began his music career in high school with a band called blind impression. There is very little information regarding his first project as well as no commercially released songs. His main project, known as The Story So Far has garnered significant critical acclaim over its life span beginning in 2007 and going strong ever since. Parker’s flow and lyricism has always been strong, and it shows in the success that The Story So Far has experienced throughout their career. Truly a group of dedicated musicians that have found the appropriate balance between friendship and musical direction.
When a group of musicians share a similar vision for what they should sound like the music just works. Parker has appropriately digested his influence over time and the sound has been tempered to reflect his true emotions. When Parker speaks or makes some type of noise it is truly heard around the world. Parker has a unique singing style that separates him from other musicians in the genre. It is important to realize that his demeanor plays a large part in his music creation.
Parker’s side project no pressure began in 2020 and is the perfect fusion of pop and skate punk. There is grit and passion behind every word that he sings and every guitar riff. A song from no pressure that demonstrates this description entirely is the song “deal” off of his first EP. This song is the perfect anthem that demonstrates what no pressure is and was always meant to be. The new The Story So Far record has given us something to tide us over until new no pressure music.
Parker is almost single handedly saving a genre that began with legacy bands like Green Day and Blink 182. The Story So Far opened for Blink 182 on their European tour and they allowed Parker to sing Carousel during a show and afterward him and Tom Delonge engaged in a beautiful embrace that appears to have meant a lot to both.
It is important to mention that Parker also has a hardcore project called Snarl but there is little information regarding this band, and they only released one commercially available EP. It is unlikely that he will ever touch the project again, but it would be cool to see a full length eventually.
Fans await a new no pressure full length with bated breath and there is hope in the air that it will be just as catchy, rhythmic and punctual as the record that came before. While it is not clear when the record will be released as there is no release date set in stone. Parker has made it clear through his music that he is here to stay and is showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.
