          After taking the time to truly digest Reality Shift’s sound, what really stands out to me is how raw the sound is for a debut record, but pristine and polished at the same time. Achieving this level of quality can be very difficult, especially for a young band that is still finding their sound. However, it is clear that the passion is there in every note and vocal line. For a band still in the early stages of their career, they have found a unique balance between technical riffs, brutal vocal lines and polished songwriting that finds them able to write beyond their years.

          What makes Reality Shift stand out from the rest of the local scene is not only their ability to take risks with their songwriting but also the moments where they put down the mic and allow the music to tell its own story. I am reminded of bands like intervals when digesting their debut record. The sections that display polished rhythms almost feel jazzy in a way that allows their unique playing style to shine through in the local scene. The songwriting is raw and polished at the same time which shows a band that has truly digested their influences and writes well beyond their years. Songs like “Fractured Reality and “Kingdom of Moonlight” stand out as highlights from the record due to their technicality and experimentation with not only electronics but songwriting style.

Being a primarily instrumental record it is clear that each instrument has its own unique voice. The production is balanced and each instrument stands out in the mix. Having been through multiple album playthroughs at this point it is clear that new unique notes and tones make themselves evident with each listen. This is truly an album that starts great yet becomes better with each subsequent playthrough. This is an album that will be remembered in the scene for years to come and I truly believe that it will be alive in the hearts and minds of those who hear it for years to come.

I hope this is the only beginning for Reality Shift as their potential looms in every note and finding true success is there for taking. Cheers to more years of innovative songwriting and technological prowess. A wonderful career lies ahead for all of you.
