Underground Spotlight

Mr. Atomic

Mr. Atomic was formed in 2015 and built off the passion that united its members. One of the things that stands out upon listening to their small catalog is how the melodies and vocal lines are polished and soothing. For such a young band it is clear that they draw influence from other artists in the indie scene. Some artists that come to mind when listening to their growing catalog of songs are Sincere Engineer and Winona Fighter.

The melodies that are present in their catalog are vibrant and soothing. They represent a band that has digested their influences and are not afraid to take risks instead of playing it safe when going into the recording studio. Their sound is refined, polished and gentle on the ears. The production makes each instrumental riff and vocal line stand out in the mix and it creates a soundscape that is truly dynamic.

Mr. Atomic appears to have a small devoted following right now but it is clear that if and when the music falls on the right ears, I believe the world will be at their fingertips. Many bands in the early stages of their career do not make it past their first record. However, Mr. Atomic continues to prove consistently why they are here to stay. While the band is still in their rising stage they may benefit from a more established act in the scene, bringing them on tour so their music can reach more listeners.

With two records under their belt, the band is showing no signs of slowing down and while they may not be packing clubs yet, they are packing speakers with many diverse sounds. Mr. Atomic’s songwriting is built around strong hooks and driving rhythm sections. The band consistently maintains enough musical depth to reward repeated listens of their material. The band does not rely solely on a specific formula, instead they blend their influences into a style that feels both cohesive and genuine. Through this, it allows them to experiment with their songwriting without compromising their unique identity.
